Urban Care is clear in its purpose to improve and stabilize the experience of care of young people whom for whatever reason cannot remain within their birth families. It is our aim to reduce the instability this cohort of young people face by providing well supported sustainable care packages developed in collaboration with Local Authorities, but most importantly with the young people themselves.

Without stability of housing, community and support young peoples out comes will invariably be limited.

We believe the Key to Success lies within our vast experience of Children in Care and the structural and legislative frameworks this service operates. Having direct and current experience of statutory specialist children's service and front line social work.

Urban Care was founded in the void of service provision where young people were faced with significant disruption as they transitioned into adulthood. As commonly they were faced with a placement move on or just prior to their 18th birthday leaving them ill prepared for adulthood and independence. These moves are due to several factors, generally once a young person turns 18 they are considered adults and in most settings, adults cannot continue to reside there, also the funding streams for young people generally reduces dramatically and the inflexibility in current commissioned services will not allow for the placements to be viable for the Local Authorities.

Urban Care will fill that void, care packages will be constructed and tailored to young people’s needs and in collaboration with the placing Authority to ensure longevity.

Urban Care is committed to creating robust and economically viable arrangements of young people that will support them to adulthood and beyond. Urban care recognises the challenges faced by the Local Authorities within the current climate of ever shrinking budgets and the constraints of the availability of suitable accommodation for young people. Urban Care will work collaboratively, sustainably and creatively with commissioners to ensure packages are in line with long term planning.
